It has been great to see the tremendous interest in the chapter lately, with attendance at the alumni meetings averaging between 20-30 alums making the pilgrimage to Ames during Homecoming and VEISHEA weekends the last couple of years. With a renewed interest, we have turned it into great momentum. The recolonization committee met with Triangle Executive Director Brian Tenclinger at Triangle HQ in Indianapolis the weekend of January 26.  We are hitting the ground running this spring with activities on the ISU campus designed to create awareness for our new Interest Group starting in the fall. We will have national staff in Ames for the first 6 weeks of school this fall to help our alumni recruit 25-35 men into the Interest Group, with a formal pinning ceremony scheduled for Saturday, September 28. New member education will begin the following week with the goal of initiating a class of re-founding fathers in January 2014 and become an official colony of Triangle Fraternity once again.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect, with the Iowa State Chapter set to celebrate its 50th Anniversary on VEISHEA weekend 2014. Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend with your spouse or family.

Other events you may be able to attend:

April 19-20, 2013 Triangle Alumni VEISHEA weekend ISU/Ames
July 27, 2013 Iowa State Breakfast at Triangle National Convention Hyatt Regency, Irvine, CA
September 14, 2013 ISU vs. Iowa Triangle tailgate and recruitment event Jack Trice Stadium, ISU
November 8- 9, 2013 Triangle Alumni Homecoming weekend ISU/Ames
January 2014 Initiation, re-forming the Iowa State Colony ISU
April 18-20, 2014 50th Anniversary and Founder’s Day celebration ISU/Ames

An equally important thrust will be the construction of a solid, vibrant Alumni support structure for these young re-founders, including the formation of two new sub-committees of the alumni board.  The Member Development Board (approx. 7 members) will have an active role in mentoring, training, and teaching new members and officers what it means to be a Triangle at Iowa State. The House Corporation Board (approx. 5 members) will assume the task of finding and managing a facility the chapter can bring to life.  The goal with the committees is to nurture the young colony and keep it focused on building brotherhood.  In the meantime, the board will be organizing alumni events to simply have fun and provide opportunities for the young men to understand what Triangle is all about.

The initial stages of the re-colonization will be critical to the chapter’s success. We need help from alumni to ensure that success. Since we’ve divided up the roles and responsibilities, it won’t require a large time commitment from any one person, but we’re counting on a good number of brothers to step in and help. This is an opportunity to be part of something not only important, but historic – the re-emergence of Triangle at ISU. You DO NOT have to be local or near Ames – the mentoring and other activities can be accomplished via phone and internet. If you are interested in serving on one of these boards or have a skill set that you'd be willing to share, please contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It is an exciting time to be involved with the Iowa State Chapter right now. We plan to reach out to verify we have the best contact information for all Iowa State brothers and we hope to see you at one or more of the upcoming alumni events.

Chris Moe
Alumni Board President
